The IMF Managing Director, Dominique Strauss-Kahn, was on Saturday taken off an Air France flight bound for Paris, France and turned over to the New York Police Department which promptly charged him with various sexual offenses, including attempted rape. It seems that the internationally prominent banker was seeking emergency stress relief prior to traveling on to Brussels where European finance ministers are meeting to discuss yet another crises in the European banking system.

The arrest of a man on sexual conduct charges who was favored to become the next president of France caused quite a commotion even in France where powerful politicians and bureaucrats are more or less expected to consort with a mistress or two.
